Bringing Back Bar Hopping on Christmas Eve's Eve!

I'd like to bring back the old tradition a few comrades and myself used to keep.  Bar hopping on Christmas Eve's Eve.  I'm not quite sure where I'll be hopping, but it will be somewhere within the city limits of the great city of Chicago.  I am up for any suggestions in the comments section along with who would like to join me.  I'll keep the blog updated if I come up with any ideas.

Holiday Music Hour Review

Walking into The Hideout, you feel like you are entering your grandfathers basement converted into a bar.  The ceiling height of about 8' made you feel glad smoking was banned at bars.  This may be a place I could see myself frequenting in the future.  It is in the middle of an industrial area, so parking is not a problem.  Oh yeah, and the fact that Guiness is only $5 helps.  If you are into living the "High Life" you'll also love this bar.  Miller High Life tall cans are only $3.

As for the show from Scott Lucas & The Married Men:  The show was being broadcast live on the radio.  The band played mostly Christmas songs, that had their own twist on them.  They also played a few songs off their record.  They started off slow, but soon picked up the tempo with their cover of the Local H song "Hey Rita" that they have recorded as one of their own.  During the middle of this song they trasitioned into "Do You Hear What I Hear".  This was probably the highlight of the night, followed by some other Christmas songs.

The night ended up at Salud on Milwaukee Ave. where we tried getting Rexie fired from her new job.  I pushed some things off the back of the bar and blamed it on Rexie, but she kept her job.  As far as I know this was the only act of sabotage on her job.  On a side note though, Francis and Mark had a dance off.  It was the two of them vs. a couple girls in the bar.  If I didn't know them, I would have thought that they have been practicing their dance routine for years, which they may have been.  It was like watching a professional dance team strut, juke, and jive to the sweet beats of Bieber.  Needless to say, the women lost the dance off and a new dancing duo was born.

1 Day Since The 2705 Inferno!

I feel like I could have done so much more.  The burning in my throat has gotten worse, but I still think I could have done more.  I could have roasted marshmallows or cooked some hotdogs on sticks for everyone that was put out for an hour because of the fire.  I should have stayed in the blaze long enough to cook some smores for everyone.  Maybe next time.

2705 West Hirsch Catches Fire! 8 Fire Engines.

Monday morning:  I use one of my last vacation days.  The building catches on fire.  The unit above me started on fire at about 8:30 today.  I was going out to my car to head out to the bank.  Chris, who stayed home because he was chilly, yelled for me to come back in.  He told me that Jen told him Agustin's place was on fire.  I ran in, headed up to the top floor to find it filled with smoke.  I made sure the women, children(Chris and Alex), and mannies got out, then tried kicking in Agustin's back door to save Maggie his dog.  After repeated attempts and no progress, I heard the sirens approaching.  I was repeatedly kicking the door and bouncing off of it.  It had to be quite the spectacle.  It was like kicking a solid piece of rubber in single degree temperatures.  It simply would not give in.  I knew there was a dog inside, and could not give up after one kick, like I would have if it was a cat.  It took me five kicks before I gave up.  I failed at breaking and entering, but luckily the fire department arrived and broke the other door down.  Maggie his dog was dragged out later, and after a little CPR from myself, she is now just suffering from smoke inhalation.  Agustin will be staying at a hotel tonight.  I only suffered smoke inhalation.  More info. to follow after I regain my composure.

Update:
Fire was started, by of all things, a space heater.  The unit above us has the floor burned and tore up by the CFD.  A little bit of water came into our unit, but no real damage.

By the way, we close on a new condo today.

Santo Visitation Today!

.......and the Cubs still suck!

What did Jesus say to the Cubs last time he was on earth?
Don't do anything till I get back.

When you buy a ticket to a Cub's game what's one thing you are guarenteed to see?
The bottom of the 9th inning.

What do the Cubs and Twins have in common?
Neither has won a championship in their "new" stadium.

What do a grizzly bear on birth control and the world series have in common?
No Cubs.

Again I Call You Out!

Perchance she for whom this bell tolls may be so bad at fantasy football, as that she knows not it tolls for her; and perchance I may think myself so much better than I am, as that they who are about me, and see my state, may have caused it to toll for me, and I know not that.

Any team's loss diminishes me, because I am involved as commissioner of this league, and therefore never send to know for whom the bells tolls; it tolls for thee, Pound 'Em Princess, it tolls for thee.

It's time for the long awaited rematch! This time I settle the score!

Arrested.................again.

It's been brought to the attention of this blog that my girl, or Featherbottom's girl(can't remember, but I think it's mine and he liked the adopted, and then younger one) was arrested on Heroin charges.  This being just after her release for the bling ring robberies.

DJ Featherbottom is doing another DJ gig today.  As previously thought, money has brought him back for another spin.  He has sold his Bear's heart to the music.  One request Featherbottom.  Please spin me some Abba!

Crazy Weather Ahead and Black Wednesday on the Horizon!

Spring has arrived, it's supposed to be 67 on Monday.  Just wait, because by Wednesday there is supposed to be freezing rain and snow.  All leading to a high in the 20's on Thanksgiving.

The plan for Black Wednesday is to go to Doyles Pub in beautiful Richmond, IL home to various antique and unique shoppes.  Doyles has been described by some as smelling like moth balls and piss.  This was before the renovation though.  It will still be better than going to a store-front bar called Tommys located in the metropolis of Spring Grove, IL.  Judge for yourself:

It's a week about Jeff Smith!

Speaking of Mr. Smith, did you hear Derek Jeter gave Jessica Alba herpes?  If this is indeed true, with the amount of people these two have slept with, all of pro sports and hollywood is about to break out in a herpes epidemic.  Sorry, let me correct myself, more of an epidemic.  Just search Derek Jeter and Jessica Alba for more details.  You heard it here first.

DJ Featherbottom will be spinning records live from Downer's Grove tonight only.  Actually, depending on the pay, there may be more nights.  The only other info. announced so far is that he will be dropping the beats during the Bears vs. Dolphins game.  The place has not yet been revealed.  One thing is for sure,  he'll have you singing:

"You spin me right round baby, right round.

Jeff Smith Hits Youtube!

You know I'm running out of things to blog about when Mr. Smith is the focus on today's blog.  Not the pedophile Frugal Gourmet, but the other Jeff Smith, the one with the horse named Buck.

Jeff Smith has been found on youtube getting destroyed in racquetball by an elderly gentlemen.  I did not watch for too long, but in the time I did watch I did not see Jeff hit the ball once.  I can't wait to see Jeff in one of his many stories on youtube.  In the meantime, this is what we have:

Back From Nashville, What's New?

Arrived safely back from Nashville yesterday.  Please let me know what's new in the comments section.  I feel terrible not being able to keep everyone up to date about the 911 on the 411 in the 312.  Has Mark moved back yet?  Did I get a new condo yet?  Anyone have any new girlfriends or boyfriends?  Anyone pregnant besides Kim?  Has Ricketts been run out of town yet for trying to charge us taxpayers to fix the toilet his shit plays in?  Has Kelly done anything dumber than swimming with alligators while I was gone?  By the way Kelly, I could use that list of stupidest things you've ever done, so I can start a new poll.  Has anyone started growing a pushbroom for Movember besides this guy?

Breaking News!!!!!!!!

Ronnys bar on California was shut down by the police.  This comes as a very small suprise to me.  The place smelled worse than my grandmothers basement that frequently backs up with shit and raw sewage.  I do think it is the only reason Stroughs Brewery was still in business though.

You will be missed by all the hipsters, and not by me Ronnys.

The Week Ahead

I have heard of nothing going on this week.  It will be the last week Mr. Lush will be in Chicago.  At least that's what he says.  He has said this before though.  Good luck and best wishes on your travels and journey through life.
The weather is supposed to be wonderful this week.  A great week to stay in and watch television.  As for the upcoming weekend, I will be leaving town on Friday, and returning Sunday.  It is because of my absence, I'm sure the weekend here in Chicago will be quite uneventful.  I am sorry to dissapoint, but I will be attending a Chili cook-off in Minneapolis.  I hope you will all survive without me.
I am thinking of planning some big events for the weekend after my return.  A kind of Mark is gone celebration for Francis.  Just kidding Mark.  Enjoy the week ahead my loyal followers.  Stay in touch with the blog for any breaking news of great events from 911 On The 411 In The 312.
A tentative celebration for my birthday is being planned for either Friday November 5th or Saturday November 6th.  It will possibly be at Honey 1 on Western.  BBQ with BYOB.  Nothing's defenite yet though.  It would be followed by drinks at 75 different bars.

A New Entry and Weekly Topic

Sorry for no entries the last couple of days.  There are no excuses that will justify the absence of blog entries to my dedicated followers.  It is for this reason, I hope you'll accept my apology and promise to try and not let this happen again.
After not having anything to blog about today, I've decided to start a weekly joke topic entry about current affairs and recent events.

Apparently Braves manager Bobby Cox is retiring, Courtney Cox is separated, and Brett Favre sent a woman his nude pic.  This has been a week full of Cox.  What do Brett Favre and Sears have in common, besides being old and overpriced?  They both have their Wranglers half off.  Please submit all of your jokes in the comment section.  I will vote on a winner by next week's blog.

A Sober Recap of Friday's Shooting

A less intoxicated description of what went down Friday night, or actually early Saturday morning:

After having a couple drinks at the home of this blog, the group ventured out to 5 Star on Chicago Ave.  At this location drinks, race poker, and good times were had by most.  From here the group ventured off to High Dive.  Again drinks and good times were had by few.  This is where the group kind of breaks apart and the story get's blurry.  The next clear picture in my head is Tim and Chris sitting in the diner at Chicago and Damen.  They were having coffee, so I decided to get one to go.  After purchasing the coffee, I remember signing the name of this blogspot on a dollar of change and having the cook tape it to the wall.  This wouldn't seem too odd to most, if it wasn't for the fact that this is now the only dollar on their wall and the place looks like it's been open 150 years.  From here I took my coffee to go and the group led by Andy headed North on Damen I believe.  On one of the raised doorsteps off of Damen, someone from the group relieved themselves back onto the sidewalk.  Another member of the group, then knocked on that person's door.  Not sure what really happend after that as I was running to get out of the stream of urine.  A little further north on the block and a short time later, Andy decided to lead us through a gangway to get to the alley running parallel with Damen to the East.  We got to the gate at the alley to discover it was locked.  The group headed back down the gangway and then proceeded north down Damen again.
We finally reached Division St.  We crossed to the NE corner of Division and Damen.  There is a Shell station there.  From there we crossed to the NW corner.  It is at this time, that between the slurred drunken conversations and shouting that we are all snapped out of our alcohol induced haze to the sound of 4 shots ringing out in the oddly warm October Chicago sky.
The noise was coming from the Shell station.  This is what I remember.  Topher yelling "fireworks", someone saying "no fucker that was gunshots".  Topher heading back towards the Shell station, me holding him back in time to see a red SUV pull out of the gas station heading west on Division past us.  I then grabbed Topher and pulled him down with me behind some newspaper vending machines.  After this we talked for a while before heading over to the crime scene.  We saw one man shot being put into an ambulance.  There are some who say another was shot that was put into the fleeing SUV.  This shocking crime however did not seem to phase us.
From there we headed to Kelly's house to drink and fight with his landlord over the squalor conditions he is forced to live in at the moment.  The argument got quite heated, and the police were called.  Believe it or not George seemed to be the voice of reason in talking this out with the police.  After this we headed back to the home of this blog and proceeded to drink untill late morning.

All I have to say, is that I can't wait to see what happens this weekend.  We should send Mark out with a figurative blast, not actual.

I am personally asking for some suggestions on plans for the weekend ahead.  Mr. Lush, since this will be your last weekend in the city of Chicago, do you have anything or anywhere you'd like to do or go in particular?  Please leave all suggestions in the comments area.  I will review all of your comments and start a poll on what we should do and when and where.

Next goal is 5000 views.  Thanks again.

Gunshots rang out like a bell.  I grabbed Topher and  jumped down almost to hell.  Andy thinks he's Danny Tanner, but he's not he should put up a banner.  He's out and not out the closet, he's married, and not to Justin Forsett.  Cabbie went down at Divison and Damen, who shot, not my friend raping(Mark).

All and all it was a good night, people got drunk, people got shot, people got shot.  I saved a man's life.  Kelly just put his balls almost on my head.  Thats a night.

Boyz Night Out!!!! Updated

So, as mentioned before we will be meeting at the home of this blog around 5pm.  We'll probably have a few drinks and maybe something to eat while waiting for all to arrive.  At around 6:30pm we'll figure out who's driving and who's riding with who, to make it to the AMC by the 7:05pm showing of Life As We Know It in theater 1.  Immediately following the movie, we'll catch it again at 9:15 in theater 3.  From there we'll meet up at a local drinking establishment and review the movie together.  I can't wait!

Boyz Night Out!!!!

Let's here it for the boys!

Word is spreading fast, that this Friday, October 8th there will be what may be one of the last "boys night out" in quite a long time.  Details are still emerging, but rumors are spreading rampant.  As you know, there are absolutely no rumors posted on this blog, only the facts.  One fact already availiable through this blog is that the "night out" will begin at 5pm at the home of this blog.  Rumors have spread throughout the world wide web of a night of fist pumping, shirt taking off, puking, ass thumbing, drywall kicking, passing out fun.  None of this can be confirmed here, but all are likely, if indeed the people rumored to be going out actually attend.  This event, believe it or not, could create a bigger turn out than the "Great Stanley Cup Event".

As for a schedule of events, the only solid plan right now is a meet up at the home of this blog at 5pm.  Any further details as to the schedule will be covered in future blogs.

I know some of the fans of this blog thought it could not survive, due to lack of events to cover, but so far it is proving them wrong.  As I've always answered when people ask me what I will cover in the week after an event.  I simply tell them "You never know when something will come up".  As for "Boys Night Out".  I've never seen something come up this fast.  This event sprang up out of nowhere.  It's amazing how a group of guys can make something rise so fast.

Boozer Speculations

Rumors spreading through Bulls camp say Boozer broke his hand in a heated thumb wrestling match.  Sources within the Bulls organization say they thought they heard the bones crack when it happend, but then realized it was just Stacey King eating a box of Crunch 'n Munch.  Don't do 'em like that young fellow.  If you're scared of the Bulls chances this year without Boozer to start, buy a dog.

The Blog Lives On

Yes, the event really happend, so the blog does not have to be shut down.  The week ahead looks like a slow one, but you never know what's going to pop up, so stay in touch for any possible announcements from here.  In the meantime, you can view pictures and a video of the Stanley Cup at Richards through the

I hate him!  I hope I beat him this week.   I wish  I was playing Patmegroins.  That team sucks!!!!!!!!!!!

1 Day Left and Some of You Already Know

There's 1 day left before the announcement, and some of you may know what and where, but do you know when.

Tripple A,

You've researched your history and discovered the mystery.  You've guessed the place, father ace.  You know the plan, because you are the man.  If you'd like to know the time, you'll have to look beyond this rhyme.  There's one more riddle, munchkins please start the fiddle.

Today's Clue:

Time of event:

is a 1979 romantic comedy film directed by Blake Edwards and starring Bo Derek, Dudley Moore, and Julie Andrews. Considered a trend-setting film at the time, and one of the year's biggest box office hits, the film made superstars of Derek and Moore.

It will last 20 minutes, but get there early.

2 Days Remain Before The 911 Event Announcement

Here is today's clue:

She has visited the White House and Lenin's tomb. She's also visited churches, bars, and strip clubs. She's been to the top of mountains and the bottoms of pools. She's been strapped to a Harley, a dog sled, and a golf cart. And along the way, she's been kissed, hugged, and admired by countless millions. They wait on line for more than an hour simply to enjoy a moment in awe with her.  She travels over 100,000 miles a year, along the way raising millions of dollars for charity.   Mostly, though, she's just taken on a trip to a favorite restaurant, an old high school, a retirement home, a night out on the town(Saturday). Several people have taken her to a cemetery to show their parents what they've achieved.

Can you guess yet?

3 Days Left Before The 911 Event Announcement

Only 3 days left.  I know some of you have already guessed the event and it's location.  For those of you who are still in the dark, here is your third clue.  It's a description of the location of the event.

"There's a hint at something dangerous lurking beneath the friendly facade of this place, but after the first drink it's sure to ebb away into feel-good neighborhood alehouse oblivion.

Prices are fairly standard: three large coolers topped with neon-lit slogans proclaiming "Drink and Be Happy" offer up $4 Stellas, PBRs, and everything in between. Have a Jack and coke ($5) alongside what is by far the city's best deal on hard-boiled eggs (75 cents each); you can lounge around for hours knowing affordable nutritional sustenance is close at hand.

Take a seat at the bar rather than at the lone table at the rear of this one-room joint; the crowd will surely welcome you. The room, awash in amber neon light, suggests a snug, communal vibe: imagine the holiday family gathering sans the dysfunctional strife. This is the kind of place to be stumbled into on a bitter-cold winter night, when warmth is the sole objective."

A Bears Victory and 4 Days Left Before The 911 Event Announcement

If you were to tell me two months ago, or even two weeks ago, that the Bears would be 3-0 and the only undefeated team in the NFC after week 3, I'd say you're crazy.  I can hardly believe it after that horrible preseason and first game against Detroit.  I still have a lot of unanswered questions though.  Why didn't I bet Andy this year?  Why does Lovie Smith refuse to kick field goals to tie or take the lead on 4th down?  Why did I start this blog?  If Cutler keeps playing like this will he have the chance to date the entire cast of "The Hills"?  How are the Bears still undefeated?

911 Event Announcement Coming In 5 Days

5 Days until the announcement.  There will be a huge annnouncement Saturday afternoon for an event scheduled to happen Saturday night.  This event, once again, has nothing to do with the Local Natives concert.  I'd like to take this opportunity to apologize for comments about the group attending that show.  I realize feelings were hurt, and the comments were in poor taste.  So, sorry you are going to miss the event scheduled for Saturday night, and sorry for calling you losers.

The first clue to the revealing of the event is as follows:

If you like dicks you'll love this event.

Recap from brunch and important info. to follow this Saturday

It turns out Lush has announced he will not be leaving untill October 23rd.  Brunch went well.  I'd like to thank Mr. Mark Lush for generously picking up the tab.  If I would have known this was happening, I would have ordered more than just bacon and a Sprite.  When I left this afternoon, George, Jim, and Ron were still there which is a record amount of time that he has spent in Boundary without getting kicked out.  Congrats to all three of you.

In the future I am going to try to put some posts out at the beginning of each week.  This will just be an informal look at what's on the horizon.  This week there's a lot on the horizon.  There will be one very important post on Saturday.  There is a huge event happening on Saturday night.  Time and place will be posted on this blog Saturday afternoon.  This event has nothing to do with the group of losers attending the Local Natives show either.  I do know that some in that group are going to be dissapointed they are missing the event I will post about.

Brunch and Recap from yesterday

Heading over to Boundary on Division for brunch at 10am.  It's a sort of going away party for Mark Lush.  He is heading to the sacred land of Israel.  It should be fun to meet Mark's other friend.  Hopefully there will be enough room there for all three of us.
Recap on yesterdays events:
Deerhunter was great, even though my friends and I were the only ones there that had A.  showered in the last month, B.  Did not paint our jeans on to us, C.  Did not have a backpack on.  Local H was a fresh flashback to the 90s.  They played a lot of covers due to the fact that they have a covers album coming out.  The best of which was a cover of TV on the Radio's "Wolf Like Me".  Sponge was a stale flashback to the 90s.  Their set reminded me of their hometown Detroit.  Nothing new, just old songs that aren't as good as they once were.  The people even left much like Detroit.  The crowd that was there for Local H dwindled down to about half, if that.

9/25/2010

After years of requests, the blog has been started.  This blog will keep you up to date on the life of me.  What I'm doing, and where and when I'll be in places.  So today I will be at the secret (not so secret anymore) show by Deerhunter in the Chicago Tribune parking lot off of Grand Ave. in Chicago at 4pm.  Immediately following I will be heading over to Ogden and Racine to see Local H and Sponge.  Wait a minute, what year is it?  Yes that's right it's 2010.
